REDDITCH Tennis Club players were in sparkling form at the Herefordshire & Worcestershire County Closed Championships at Manor Park in Malvern.
The six-day event was a great opportunity for players to compete against the best of the two counties and bid to be crowned county champion in their age group.
Latesha Grant won the 2018 female player of the year award and both the 16&U girls’ singles and 14&U girls’ singles competitions.
Jack Smith won the open age mixed doubles with partner Kate Horsburgh and was also runner-up in the men’s doubles event partnering Adam Dudek.
Harvey Ravenscroft made the semi-final in the 14U boys’ singles and was runner-up in the 14U mixed doubles partnering Latesha Grant.
Sisters Kiyyah and Latesha Grant were runners-up in the 16U girls’ doubles.
Felix Shennan was runner-up in the 9U boys’ singles, Gina Obrey made the semi-finals in the 9U girls’ singles and the duo paired up in the 9U doubles, just missing out on the final by one point.
Shennan and Kian McGrath paired up in the 10&U doubles and made it to the semi-final before losing to the eventual winners.
Redditch Tennis Club was named Midlands Club of the Year by the Lawn Tennis Association this summer and offers opportunities for all ages and abilities to get involved.
