Underdogs hold their nerve to win cups in penalty shoot-outs

THE BRT REDDITCH & South Warwickshire Combination League season finished in dramatic fashion on Sunday as both the Subsidiary Cup finals ended with the underdogs lifting the trophies.

In the Junior Cup an 87th minute equaliser from Joe Reeves set up Park’s penalty shoot-out victory over Shakespeare after a 1-1 draw and in the Senior Cup Division One outfit Millfield Rovers also won on spot kicks after a 3-3 draw against Fairfield General La Coruna, who finished fourth in the Premier Division.

Division Two – Bell Studley 0 Sporting Club Redditch 2 (Sill, McKeon); midweek – Evesham United Sunday 0 Bell Studley 6 (Dan Beauchamp 4, Styles, Mason).

Subsidiary Senior Cup semi-final (midweek) – Thomas Brothers 1 (Burkus) Fairfield General La Coruna 4 (Clarke, Ingram, Bennett, Barnett); final – Millfield Rovers 3 (Dews 2, Bartlett) Fairfield General La Coruna 3 (Craig Barnett, Carl Barnett, Crawford), Millfield won 4-3 on penalties.


Subsidiary Junior Cup semi-final (midweek) – Park 3 (Rogers 2, Moran) SHTP 0; final – Shakespeare 1 Park 1 (Reeves), Park won 4-3 on penalties.
