WHITE Hart’s Sunday B team are joint early season front-runners in Division Four of the Northfield & District League after a thrilling two-shot victory over Black Horse – the team they share the top spot with.

Wins for Gill Croft (21-13) and Kirk Wright (21-10) gave White Hart a solid start before Tim Hollingshead won 21-7 and Paul Matthews then sealed the victory with a 21-11 card to make the final scoreline 127-125.

White Hart are also current leaders in both Divisions One and Three of the Heart of England Over 60s League.

The A team defeated local rivals Alcester A for the second week running in the top flight as captain Mike Estell led the way with a 21-10 victory.

Other victories for Ray Richards (21-11), Graham Arnott (21-12), Tom Hawks (21-18) and Stephen Turner (21-20) gave them a 118-92 scoreline.

The B team found little opposition from Weoley Castle WMC in Division Three as they easily defeated them 126-50 at home.

Single-figure cards from Mick Perrins and Norman Batchelor (both 21-4), plus Ken Brown and captain Brian Chatterley (both 21-6), were backed up by Anne Batchelor (21-17) and Sheila Humphreys (21-13).

White Hart’s team in Division Five of the prestigious Warwickshire and Worcestershire Saturday League tasted defeat at Solihull Marsh Lane where their main highlight was a fine individual win for Stuart Rice.

A high-quality match saw the White Hart player edge out a very tough opponent 21-20.
