White Hart had the Division Three title snatched from their grasp by Selly Park B in the Yardley and District Bowls League, but promotion is a fine consolation prize for the Redditch team and a suitable reward for the players, well captained throughout the season by Paul Matthews.

White Hart won their final match at home to Hockley Heath B with a 153-114 scoreline.

Their winners were Paul Matthews (21-9), Tim Hollingshead (21-3), Dave Kings (21-18), John Meredith (21-11), and recent member Gary Milner (21-10).

It gave them seven points, but Selly Park B took 10 points from their away tie with King George VI B to win the league by two points.

White Hart also have three players in the top 10 league averages positions — Paul Matthews (3rd), Dave Kings (5th) and Tim Hollingshead (6th).

The following night White Hart’s B team gained a thrilling 143-142 home victory over Marston Green in Division Three of the Heart of England League to narrowly avoid the drop and condemn their opponents to relegation. They had four winners led by captain Norman Batchelor (21-10), supported well by Tim Hollingshead (21-17), Ken Brown (21-13) and Sue Sugden (21-18).

The title was won by Baldwin B.

White Hart A were already doomed to relegation from Division One, and their final match saw them defeated 87-164 at Kings Norton Ex-Service.

Their only winner was captain Ian Humphreys (21-17) and three single figure defeats contributed to them taking a single point from the match.

The division was won by Royal Austin British Legion A who finished just five points ahead of Tamworth A.

In the HOFE Over 60s Leagues, White Hart A were narrowly beaten at Wythall A 99-103 in Division One. Winning cards came from Ian Humphreys (21-11) and Stephen Turner (21-17).

The B team defeated Solihull RBL B 120-76 in Division Three. The victory was highlighted by 21-6 wins from Mick Perrins and Ray Richards.

The A ream lie in ninth place, 15 points clear of relegation while the B team are in eighth position in Division Three, currently safe by eight points with four matches to play.

In the Warwick and Worcester Saturday League, White Hart were beaten 193-224 at home by Hall Green in Premier Division Four and are still in a relegation position. Their only winners were Stuart Rice, who gained a fine 21-6 win, Paul Matthews and Stephen Turner (21-20)

In the Northfield and District Sunday League, White Hart B moved into third place in Division Five after a 139-115 win over Stoke Prior.

Tim Hollingshead is second in the division averages after a 21-10 win, behind Stoke Prior’s James Harman, who beat Kirk Wright 21-9. Norman Batchelor, Tony Sugden and captain Di Pritchard were White Hart’s other winners, keeping their promotion hopes alive.

In the SW Birmingham League Division 4, White Hart B were comfortable winners at home to Weoley Castle WMC.

Mick Perrins (21-17), Tony Sugden (21-17), Anne Batchelor (21-10), Sue Sugden (21-11) and John Meredith (21-5) were their winners.
