INKBERROW Eagles Girls picked up some top tips from two stars of the women’s game at a recent training session.

Birmingham City Ladies duo Kerys Harrop and Chloe Peplow visited the Eagles’ Pathways training pitch off Washford Lane in Redditch to put the young guns through their paces.

Defender Harrop is the Blues Ladies vice-captain and teenage midfielder Peplow is one of the rising stars of the English game having already represented England at various age groups up to under 19 level.

Both are regulars in the squad which is sitting in third place in Women’s Super League One and through to the quarter-finals of the Continental Tyres Cup.

The Blues stars put the Eagles girls – ranging from under eights to under 14s – through various energetic drills, which they all enjoyed judging by the smiles on their faces.

After the session the Eagles had plenty of questions for their guests and lots of photographs were taken on what was a memorable occasion.

Inkberrow Eagles Girls are an FA Charter Standard club and now a Gold Sister Club affiliated to Blues Ladies, which is allowing them to have plenty of amazing opportunities with the Solihull-based Blues including training sessions, summer camps, tournaments and going to see them play in the Women’s Super League.

Harrop, Blues Ladies’ Sister Club Programme Officer, told the Standard: “Myself and Chloe had a great evening with the Inkberrow Eagles Girls.

“They were a fantastic group to coach who showed a lot of enthusiasm and seemed to have a lot of fun!

“It is nice for the youngsters to be coached by professional footballers, as it gives them something to aspire to.

“Hopefully many of these girls will follow in our footsteps and make it to the top level of football in their own careers.”

Recently the Eagles under tens and under 12s teams secured victories at the Tewkesbury Town FC tournament as both teams did not lose a game or concede a goal.

The Eagles are now preparing for the 2016/17 season with a development squad and teams at under 11, under 13 and under 15 level and are looking for girls of all ages who want to get involved with football.
