A useful run-out for Church

WHILE there are a few weeks before Alvechurch complete their final Red Recruitment Trophy fixtures, there was at least some action involving Ian Long’s men last weekend – a goalless draw at Malvern Town.

The Church headed to the HDanywhere Community Stadium last Saturday to help the Hillsiders prepare for their FA Vase fourth-round tie at Congleton Town.

Although it proved a useful 90 minutes of football after a long lay-off, there was a marked lack of quality on show in the clash with the Hellenic League Division One West outfit.

Jamie Willets had the best opportunity for the visitors after the break, but was unable to direct his header either side of Malvern’s shot-stopper after making a run from deep to the edge of the six-yard box.
