ALCESTER Bowling Club celebrated a fifth successive promotion by becoming Division Three champions in the S & W Birmingham Over 60s League.
Alcester ended the season with a 28-shot victory away to Stoke Prior, a result which condemned the losers to relegation.
Captain John Slater produced an excellent 21-6 card for Alcester, with John Alderson (21-11), Ken Craddock (21-15) and Renny Bannister (21-16) also adding points.
Alcester took 10 points to Stoke Prior’s two and clinched the top spot in the table.
This is the team’s fifth successive promotion since they joined the S & W Birmingham League five years ago.
All in all, it has been a successful season for Alcester. Of their eight teams, four gained promotion (two as champions of their respective leagues). Two more narrowly missed promotion, but one did get relegated.
