ATHLETICS - Bromsgrove and Redditch AC under-13 girls win team bronze in West Midland Young Athletes Cross Country League

BROMSGROVE AND REDDITCH AC’s under-13 Girls won team bronze in the final fixture of the West Midland Young Athletes Cross Country League fixture in Nuneaton.

In the final race of the season, Claudia Barker (10th), Caitlin Pridden (14th), Winnie Padmore (18th), Phoebe Ranger (30th) and Isla Wilson (47th) all scored points to earn a well-deserved bronze medal.

Kara Welborn, Celia Atkins, Rose Lewis and Elsie Kenny will also receive medals having scored points in earlier races with Kara also earning individual recognition after finishing in sixth place overall in the series.

And brothers Jacob (under-11) and Gabriel Wagstaff (under-13) both received awards for finishing in fifth place in their respective race series’.




Awards were also given to Sam Hembry and William Pridden in the under-15 boys category after the duo achieved third and fourth place finishes, the latter just two points behind Sam.

The club finished seventh overall out of 21 teams, with 46 young athletes representing the club throughout the season whilst many are likely to compete for their county in the National Inter-Counties Championships and English Schools Championships next month


And the West Midland Young Athletes Cross Country League is the strongest in the UK for young athletes with individual awards given to the top-six performers and team medals given to the top-three teams based on the best performances over the five race series which began in October.
