CLAIRE Cashmore won paratriathlon silver in the Paris Paralympic Games Test Event to add yet another medal to her collection.
Cashmore was fifth after the first run and climbed up to third following the transition onto the bike and quickly moved into second place with the race now a duathlon (run, bike, run) after a late change.
However, after closing the gap on American leader Grace Norman to less than 30 seconds, Cashmore received a penalty when exiting the bike.
Despite her penalty, Cashmore finished the second run comfortably to claim silver ahead of Canada’s Kamylle Frenette.
Cashmore said: “I’m happy and a bit frustrated I got a penalty. I went across the dismount line and got confused with my laps. This is why it’s the test event it shows how to make mistakes and the next year it’s nice and smooth.
“It was pretty incredible out there, you don’t get to enjoy the iconic monuments around you, but it was great. Riding down the Champs Elysees, you’re just like wow, it’s a special moment.”
The Redditch athlete boasts nine Paralympic medals across para swimming and paratriathlon and came into the race off the back of winning silver at the World Triathlon Para Series Swansea.
She also won two gold medals at the 2023 World Triathlon Para Cup A Coruna and 2023 Europe Triathlon Championships Madrid.
