TRIATHLON Redditch member Louise Beasley performed superbly to win a gold medal and be named European champion for her age group (35-39) at the European Triathlon Union Long Distance Triathlon in Almere-Amsterdam.
Beasley completed the Ironman distance race – which consists of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike leg and 26.2-mile marathon run – in 11 hours, 47 minutes.
She has just started her first year as a Great Britain age group triathlete and has already qualified for further events in 2018.
“I am delighted to compete for my country in three events this year and am still shocked I am named European long distance triathlete champion for my age group,” said Beasley.
“I am extremely grateful to everyone who has contributed to this success and I am very thankful for the support and encouragement of everyone at Triathlon Redditch, especially with their sponsorship towards my GB kit.”
