The new pairing beat previous holders Kirk Wright and John Meredith 21-9 in the semi-finals before then ousting Ray Barnett and Steve Jones by the same scoreline in the final after the latter duo had beaten Dave Kings and Dave Edwards 21-12.

Despite missing three of their regular bowlers, White Hart were eventually beaten 114-99 but top the table with 13 points as Mike Estell (21-17), Kirk Wright (21-15) and Mick Perrins (21-19) all won their respective matches.

And Hart were narrowly beaten 137-126 at home in the Yardley Wood Superleague Division 2 by Kings Norton Ex-Service in their opening match of the season.

Dave Kings (21-9), Wright (21-12), Jones (21-13) and Ray Barnett (21-10) helped to narrow the gap between the teams but was not enough to win the match.
