THE HART Crown Green Bowling Club celebrated historic success in the Heart of England League in one of the club’s finest ever seasons.
Hart A won the Division One title and the HofE Thursday Cup while Hart B claimed the Division Four title in a stunning campaign.
The club’s Veterans A team also reached the Friday morning Cup final and finished third in Division One of the Over 60’s League.
And the Redditch club have added a number of highly-ranked UK bowlers to their Thursday evening A team, captained by Pete Davenport who has gained 50 county caps over the last two decades.
The squad includes Greg Smith, one of the most highly-regarded bowlers in the UK, and also Jon Palmer and Carl Fielding.
All four players featured for the Warwick and Worcester team this season who lifted the Crossfield Cup County Championship after defeating Yorkshire in the final.
The Hart won the HofE top flight title by an impressive 41-shot margin ahead of Baldwin A and completed a double with a 145-117 cup final success against Kings Norton Ex-Service A.
Hart bowler Fielding finished top of the league averages by just 0.14 shots ahead of teammate Davenport.
The addition of top-class bowlers to the club’s HofE A team also meant they could field a stronger B squad.
And the B team won the Division Four title by seven shots ahead of Wythall B, captained by John Meredith while Hart chairman and secretary Kirk Wright finished top of the division averages.
The club’s veterans A team finished third in the top flight and reached the Over 60’s cup final, losing 125-88 against Moseley CC’s A team who claimed the league title.
Hart’s Warwick and Worcester Premier League team just missed out on promotion to Division Three by a single point.
