BOWLS - The Hart take top spot after super Saturday showing

THE HART Crown Green Bowling Club’s returned to the top of the table after taking 21 points from a double header.

The Redditch club played two matches back-to-back in Division Four of the Warwick and Worcester Premier League.

The Hart claimed wins against Moor Lane B and Beeches to return to the top of the table.

Hart clinched a dramatic 150-149 victory against Moor Lane B as Cameron Cutler secured a 21-19 victory with the last bowl of the match.

Oscar Fielding (21-7), Ashley Beeston (21-6), Badger Moore (21-11), Jack Livingstone (21-8) and Dave Mahaffey (21-14) all won their matches in a thrilling contest.

And Hart then won 199-170 at Beeches despite a half-hour delay due to the condition of the green.




Hart produced seven winning cards courtesy of Fielding, Moore, Livingstone, Mahaffey, Penny Moore, Pete Davenport and Paul Matthews.

The Hart now lead the Division Four table by two points ahead of Triplex B with five matches left to play.


Hart’s A team also remain in contention to retain their Heart of England Division One title despite a 154-137 defeat against King Norton Ex-Service A.

Mahaffey, Cutler and Jon Palmer won their matches for Hart who sit second in the table, nine points behind Baldwin A with a game in-hand.

Hart B moved up to seventh place in Division Three with a narrow 134-128 home win against Yardley Wood Social.

Neil Laxton (21-4), Malcolm Bird (21-8), Kirk Wright (21-13) and Penny Moore (21-19) won their matches to secure points for the Redditch club.

In the Northfield and District Sunday League, Hart A dropped to the bottom of the table in Division One.

The Hart suffered an 165-111 home defeat against league leaders King George V A as Mike Estell (21-18) proved the club’s only winner.

However, Hart B kept their promotion hopes alive in Division Three with a 143-131 win at Rubery Sheldon B.

Hart produced five winning cards from Dave Pratt (21-12), Dave Kings (21-13), Keith Morgan (21-17), Neil Harrison (21-11) and Martin Onions (21-15).

In the South West Birmingham and District Over 60s League, Hart A failed to produce any winning cards in a 126-88 defeat against Triplex A in Division One.

However, Hart’s B team beat Moorpool 104-89 in Division Three to remain in promotion contention.

In the Yardley Wood Superleague, Hart A only managed three points from a trip to Baldwin B to remain bottom of the Division One table.

Hart B beat Alcester B 156-116 to move top of the Division Three table, six points clear of Hall Green B.

In Division One of the Heart of England Over 60s League, Hart A remain fourth following a 119-87 defeat against Triplex A.

However, Hart B moved off the bottom of the table with a narrow 120-113 home win against Ye Olde Knowle B.

And Hart player Penny Moore also made her second appearance for Dudley and District in the Ladies County Championship.

Moore took part in a game against Mid-Warwickshire and helped Dudley to victory with a 21-17 win against Lynn Seward.
