WHITE Hart Crown Green Bowling Club’s A team are back on top of the Heart of England League Division Two table after a fine 30-shot victory at British Oak A.

The Redditch club took a 17-shot lead at the halfway stage thanks to wins from Cameron Cutler (21-9) and captain Kirk Wright (21-13).

And further victories from Steve Jones (21-10) and Pete Davenport (21-8) secured a 154-124 success with Hart now eight points clear of second-placed Moseley CC with seven matches left to play.

However, White Hart B struggled in their 160-98 home defeat against a strong Baldwin B team in Division Three with Gill Croft (21-13) their only winner.

In the Warwick and Worcester Premier League Division Four, White Hart lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with a much-needed 185-139 home win against Hollyfields.

The hosts posted seven winning cards courtesy of Paul Matthews (21-4), Wright (21-6), Neil Laxton (21-12), Rick Horton (21-17), Dave Kings (21-17), Norman Batchelor (21-11) and captain Mike Hancock (21-9).

In the Yardley Wood Superleague, White Hart A gave themselves a good chance of achieving promotion from Division Two with a 140-100 win at Wootton Hall.

Winning cards from Matthews (21-11), Mike Estell (21-2), Jones (21-13), Davenport (21-3) and David Mahaffey (21-8) sets up a thrilling finale when Hart play Wootton again at home in the last match of the season.

Hart are currently in joint third with Ye Olde Knowle A, just three points behind Kings Norton Ex Service who occupy the final promotion place.

The Redditch club should have the easiest task, with their two promotion rivals playing away from home, but may not be able to afford any losing cards on the night.

White Hart B were narrowly beaten 143-129 by Stoke Prior but had three winners from the tie as Neil Harrison (21-16), Tony Buckley (21-12) and Croft (21-10) gave Hart three points and assures them of a mid-table finish at the end of the season.

In the Heart of England Over 60’s League, White Hart A suffered a 116-79 defeat at Kings Norton Ex Service in the top flight with captain Mike Estell (21-8) being their only winner from the tie.

However, White Hart B gained their second win of a tough season, defeating Bornville Sports A 108-91 in Division Two.

An excellent 21-5 card from captain Croft got them off to a flying start before Tony Buckley managed to hang on and win 21-20 and Sheila Humphreys led all the way to win 21-11.

Roger Broome fought back from 12-18 down to achieve a score of 17 and John Meredith fought back from 5-13 down to run out a comfortable 21-13 winner.

In the S.W. Birmingham and District League Division One, White Hart A were easily beaten 124-75 at British Oak A where Estell (21-19) was again the sole winner.

Lastly, Hart’s B team lost a close home encounter with Stoke Prior 113-100 in Division Three as Meredith (21-16) and captain Hancock (21-13) gave them a couple of points in their battle against relegation.
