REDDITCH Hockey Club’s men’s first team maintained top spot in their league while the second team stretched their unbeaten run to 15 matches.

The men’s first team battled to a 1-0 victory to remain top of their league in which just five points separate first from seventh.

And the men’s second team are now 15 games unbeaten with a comfortable 6-0 win against Edgbaston 4ths as James Makin scored twice with further goals from Josh Checkley, Richard Sellors, Ethan Smith and Miller Glen.

The men’s third team claimed a hard-fought point in a draw with Worcester 5ths despite a number of injuries as Ben McFarland levelled the game after superb skill from Theo Cook who provided the assist.

Redditch’s development side only had nine players for their trip to Atherstone Adders as two of the club’s junior members, Hayden Bourne and Alex Gilmour, made their senior debuts in a 3-0 defeat.

The club’s ladies side were unfortunate to lose 4-0 at Stourport 3rds as Redditch hit the woodwork on several occasions while the Stourport goalkeeper made a number of saves.

Lastly, the ladies second team made it back-to-back wins as Becki Clarke’s reverse hit opened the scoring before Tula Williams and Bex Brookes struck with the latter turning home her daughter Chloe Brookes’ pass.
