WALLOP Boxing Club are hosting their first home show at the Abbey Stadium this weekend.

The event is the first amateur England Boxing ABA accredited show in the town for over a decade.

The card features 14 bouts with 11 of the match-ups between Wallop boxers and three cross-matches between fighters from other top local clubs including Small Heath and Anderson ABC.

Wallop director and lead coach, Carl Dickens, said: “It’s surprised me that the club has grown so quickly and we’re already hosting our first showcase, something which normally takes a club several years to build a squad to make it happen.

“We have a great squad and everyone is looking forward to the event on Saturday, hopefully it is the first of many.”

Doors open at 5.30pm with the action to begin at 6pm at the Abbey Stadium on Saturday, April 27. Wallop anticipate tickets to sell out with a limited number available on the door on the night.

Local pro fighters Leo Fanthome and Simon Ibekwe will present awards to the fighters after their bouts.

Former professional boxer Dickens decided to open the club to support young people in Redditch following a life-changing injury.

A third of the fighters on the card this weekend are diagnosed on the spectrum one way or another with ADHD.
