WALLOP Boxing Club successfully hosted their first home show of the year competing against a Derbyshire Select East Midlands squad.

The Redditch club won eight out of 15 bouts at Arrow Vale Sports Centre to take home the overall trophy.

The highlight of the event saw Wallop’s Kai Masters win his bout by knockout after just 14 seconds.

And Kai’s brothers Joe and Lenny also triumphed with Joe winning by knockout in 59 seconds while Lenny claimed a points victory.

The Redditch club secured five stoppage victories in total as Harry Coello and Kyra Rice also won inside the distance.

Wallop’s director and lead coach, Carl Dickens said: “It was another really successful show.

“In my absence, club coaches Ryan Owen and Brandon Burford exceeded themselves and even received feedback from the supervisor of the event who said they were a credit to the gym.

“I want to give a special mention to Chase Holden-Hodgkinson who lost all of his first three bouts by stoppage but kept training hard and evenutally secured his first win.

“He’s an example to the rest of our fighters that if you keep persevering, things will eventually come and to never give up.

“We’ve firmly established ourselves as having a good reputation in the Midlands with the club known for being strong, relentless and not messing about.

“Our plans in the future are to have the first professional boxing stable in Redditch.

“A big thank you to our sponsors Total Construction.

“We are now in the process of organising our biggest show yet in June with out next home show to take place in May.”

The event also attracted an attendance of more than 300 people – the club’s best-attended home show.
