IT HAS been a superb month on the clay for 17-year-old Felix Gill who is now ranked 74th in the junior International Tennis Federation world rankings.

Redditch ace Gill had a run of success which started in the Ukrainian capital Kiev in late August when he claimed the singles title by beating Bulgarian Simeon Terziev 7-6, 6-4.

The next stop was Gyor in Hungary for the grade two international event played just a few days later and Gill continued his fine form to seal his first singles title at this level by beating Swiss Jerome Kym 6-4, 6-4 in the final.

He also paired up with French player Martin Breysach in the doubles to claim another title. The duo did not drop a set during the event and beat Kym and his Austrian partner Lukas Neumayer 6-3, 6-3 in the final.

The next and final stop for Gill before he returned home for a well deserved rest was a grade two competition in Prague, Czech Republic, where he had a good start in beating Alberto Orso from Italy and Jasza Szajrych from Poland before losing in the quarter-finals to Swiss player Maurus Malgiaritti.

This sequence of results in which Gill won 15 matches in succession catapulted him 50 places higher in the world rankings.

He will now compete in Mexico before heading to Miami in December ahead of his debut at the junior Australian Open in January.
