REDDITCH CC suffered a five-wicket defeat against Ombersley despite Haleem Basharatt’s unbeaten 87 in the Worcestershire County League Premier Division.

The visitors made a slow start to their innings as openers Waqar Ahmed (2) and Ben Tredget (0) both fell cheaply as Redditch slipped to 32-3.

And the wickets continued to tumble with Redditch in real danger on 89-6 despite a quickfire 25 from Oliver Mason.

Basharatt helped drag Redditch towards a competitive total and was supported towards the end of his side’s innings by Haris Ali Mohammed (28) and Ravin Lokenath (22) as they finished on 207-9.

And Redditch made some early inroads to restrict Ombersley to 60-3 thanks to the bowling of Mohammad Zahid (2-40).

However, the home side dominated for the remainder of the match to ease to the required total in 38.4 overs with Ibtisam Azhar (72) top scoring.

The club’s 2nd XI claimed a five-wicket win against Old Vigornians courtesy of an unbeaten 65 by Anis Suleman and some inspired bowling from James Bevan (5-35).

And Redditch’s 3rd XI thrashed Himbleton by eight wickets as Geoffrey Eley (107 not out) and Abdul Jabbar (55 not out) combined for a tremendous third-wicket partnership.

Lastly, the club’s 4th XI eased to a 105-run win against Malvern after Sumaan Ahmed scored a stunning 157 before Sion Duggan took 5-20 with the ball as the visitors were bowled out for just 128.
