A HALF-CENTURY from Rizwan Chaudhry proved in vain as Redditch Entaco CC slipped to a four-wicket defeat away at Netherton.
Chaudhry and Haleem Basharat combined well at the crease for the visitors while Muhammad Safyan and Noman Chaudhry added late runs as Redditch closed on 189-9.
However, an unbeaten half-century from Netherton’s Naqaash Tahir saw the home side claim a four-wicket success with six overs to spare.
The result means Redditch remain bottom of the Worcestershire County League Premier Division table.
Entaco won the toss and elected to bat but slipped to 28-4 with only Haris Ali (19) reaching double figures of Redditch’s top order.
A strong fifth-wicket stand between R Chaudhry (51) and Basharat (29) helped Redditch rebuild the innings only for Sahil Mahmood (5-51) to break up the partnership.
And Entaco slumped to 104-7 as Mahmood ripped through Redditch’s middle order only for Safyan (31) and N Chaudhry (22 not out) to show resistance with the bat.
N Chaudhury’s runs came from just eight deliveries as he blasted two maximums to help Redditch close on 189-9 at the end of their 50 overs.
Netherton scored steadily in reply as only opener Ayushman Basu (8) and Abdul Hadi (5) failed to reach double figures.
Redditch’s Ghulam Moyhuddin (3-46) helped restrict Netherton to 126-6 only for Tahir (51 not out) and also Zakariah Abbas (34 not out) to guide the home side to victory with six overs to spare and four wickets in-hand.
Redditch are next in action against rivals Bromsgrove on Saturday, July 11 with play to begin at 12pm(midday) Bromsgrove Road.
