CRICKET - Redditch thrash Bromyard in fine week

REDDITCH CC secured a resounding 96-run win against Bromyard as Adeel Sajid played a starring role with the bat.

Sajid hit 17 boundaries on his way to a majestic 92 from just 78 balls and formed a magnificent partnership with Ben Tredget (68) as the pair put on 142 runs for Redditch’s second wicket.

Haleem Basharatt (36 not out) and Oliver Mason (29) added useful runs as Redditch closed on 266-8 at the end of their innings.

And the visitors then restricted Bromyard to 51-5 in reply as Ravin Lokenath (3-34) and Mohammad Zahid (2-48) took a spate of early wickets.




Greg Leighton (57) top scored for the home side until he eventually fell to the bowling of Russell Southwick (3-24) whilst Haris Ali Mohammed (2-29) chipped in with a pair of crucial wickets to bowl the hosts out for 170.

The result means Redditch sit sixth in the Worcestershire County League Premier Division table.


Elsewhere, the second XI thrashed Coombs Wood by 259 runs after they skittled their opponents for just 75 as Waqas Ali claimed all 10 wickets in an astonishing spell of bowling.

The club’s third XI were similarly impressive in their 139-run success against Hagley as opener James Prescott scored a majestic 122 whilst the fourth XI beat Halesowen by 131 runs thanks to a century from Sumaan Ahmed (107).
