STUDLEY recorded their first win of the season with an impressive three-wicket victory against Kenilworth Wardens at Washford Fields.

After losing the toss, Studley faced an early onslaught from the visitors who made a flying start only for a resilient bowling effort to turn the game in the home side’s favour.

Youngster Oliver Harris (3-41) and Kieron Ward (1-20) were instrumental in shifting the momentum. Skipper Tom Phelan (1-34) and Stuart Harris (4-36) ensured Studley bowled Kenilworth out within their 50 overs. And 15-year-old debutant Louis Harris, though unfortunate not to take a wicket, contributed significantly with two crucial catches.

Chasing a target of 197, Studley encountered early setbacks. However, a crucial partnership between Stephen Rose (57) and Brandon Miller (60), who put on 102 runs for the fifth wicket, laid the foundation for victory. Stuart Harris (18 not out) and Chris Perrins (8 not out) completed the chase, sealing an excellent win.

Phelan said: “We’ve played good cricket but missed out in key moments in previous games. We excelled in all departments.

“Our bowling was strong, and we knew that if we batted in partnerships, we could chase down the total. Steve and Brandon batted superbly, and it’s great to get that first win on the board.”
