TANWORTH and Camp Hill secured a rain-affected 19-run victory away at Wellesbourne although the club’s slim title chances came to an end.
A fine half-century from Andy Turnbell helped TACH to victory only for results elsewhere to confirm Shipston as champions.
The win means TACH sit second in the Cotswold Hills League Premier Division table.
Upon TACH’s arrival at Loxley Close, rain delayed the start of the game with the match reduced to 36 overs a side.
TACH batted first as Joseph Collins (2-21) made an early breakthrough, removing Lee Gill (6) as he found the hands of David Barnett at mid-off from a leading edge.
And Collins also accounted for Martin Perfect (5) to leave TACH on 37-2 before rain interrupted play once again.
However, with the game now just 23 overs a side, Turnbull (52) produced a fine knock which included eight fours on his way to a 52-ball half-century in a 56-run third-wicket with James Carey (13).
Greg Ricketts (1-15) eventually trapped Turnbull LBW as the latter attempted a reverse sweep while Gary Maynard (1-47) bowled Carey before Ben Bryant (14 not out) and Dan Williams (14) helped TACH finish on 124-5.
Wellesbourne required 146 runs for victory, a target adjusted after DLS, and made a bright start as Myles Isted (8) and Matthew Boyle (8) added 29 runs in the first four overs.
However, wickets for Oscar Newell (1-25) and Bryant (3-21) in successive overs halted the home side’s momentum before Jamie Plant (1-26) bowled Thomas Sarson-Hirst (9) to leave Wellesbourne on 42-3.
Wellesbourne’s middle order batters added some much-needed runs as Gary Maynard (28), Jack Myatt (15) and Ravisankar Madhusoodanan (12) all reached double figures.
Some excellent bowling from Andy Turnbull (2-20) and Tim Keyte (2-25) saw Wellesbourne slip to 104-7 before Bryant returned to the attack and mopped up the tail as the home side closed on 126-9, 20 runs short of the required total.
