A TEAM of 16 from Redditch Swimming Club competed with huge success in the Netherlands Invitational Gala in Eindhoven.
Three RSC swimmers won 13 medals between them and a large number of other town swimmers achieved personal best performances as they impressed at the excellent Pieter van den Hoogenband Swim Stadium on the outskirts of Eindhoven.
More than 200 swimmers from the Netherlands and nearby countries such as Belgium, France and Germany, teams from England (four), the USA and other European countries competed over two days in 32 events.
All of the swimmers immersed themselves as much in the atmosphere as they did in the water in what was a memorable event.
RSC’s Lucy Hatfield (nine-year category) won four medals – gold in the 50m fly, silver in the 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle and bronze in the 100m individual medley.
Her team-mate Aimee Hood (12-year category) claimed five medals as she secured gold in the 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke and 100m freestyle and silver in the 100m backstroke and 100m individual medley.
The Redditch glory did not end there as Josie Ross (15/16-year category) won four medals – gold in the 200m individual medley and silver in the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke.
RSC vice-chairman Paul Hartland said: “All of the swimmers had an absolutely fabulous time meeting with and competing against swimmers from other countries in a top grade venue.
“You can’t buy memories and experiences like this and you can’t put a value on the memories the swimmers had as they were returning to Redditch.
“All of the swimmers put total effort into achieving a fantastic haul of medals, personal bests and County Qualifying times to bring back to England.”
