Final glory for Redditch swimmers

REDDITCH Swimming Club members powered their way to glory in the Nuneaton & District Junior League Division Two West final at Central Baths, Wolverhampton.

The competition is held for junior swimmers aged nine to 12 and teams from all Midlands counties competed on Saturday.

Redditch qualified for the final in joint first position with Bromsgrove, with both teams achieving the maximum 18 league points (six points for winning each gala) from three previous rounds.

After winning the final with an amazing 269 points, 104 points ahead of the team in second place, Redditch will be promoted to compete in Division One in 2018.

RSC head coach Chris Britt said: “This was another fantastic performance, following on from our comprehensive wins in rounds one to three.

“To win by such a huge margin in the final is a great achievement. From Anna Farr’s victory in event one, all the way through to our team’s convincing victory in event 51 – the mixed cannon relay at the end of the gala – we were in complete control.

“We showed great skills, commitment, focus and a brilliant team spirit. We will now deservedly return to Division One in 2018.”

Redditch final team members were: Hannah Osborne, Martha Colclough, Amelie Wise, Grace Knight, Ella Loftus, Eleanor Cartwright, Anna Farr, Rosie Ward, Kiera Phillips, Hannah Willis, Ashleigh Green, Lucy Hatfield, Emily Farr, Louise Osborne, Georgia Kingham, Evie Floate, Max Davidson, Elliot Wall, Aled Lee, Stefan Troye, William Case, Noah Chambers, Riley Perry, Bobby Riley, Nathan Sanders, Finlay Shennan, George Hastings, Brendan Colley, Aurelio Lencioni, Elliot Hill, Jake Hemming.
