ALVECHURCH slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Coventry City under-21s in the club’s final pre-season friendly.
Coventry scored an early goal to condemn Alvechurch to their only pre-season defeat at Lye Meadow.
Church went into the fixture unbeaten in six pre-season games.
However, Coventry took the lead after just six minutes when Church failed to deal with a ball over the top and a City youngster sent a header into the bottom right corner.
The home side could not find a way back into the contest with chances at a premium throughout.
Alvechurch begin their league campaign with a trip to Stamford on Saturday, August 9 with kick-off at 3pm at the Zeeco Stadium.
