ALVECHURCH missed the chance to move out of the relegation zone after conceding at the death in a 1-0 defeat away at Stourbridge.

Stour striker Alex Jones scored with virtually the last kick of the game after Church defender Yaw Ofosu saw red on 83 minutes at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.

The result means Alvechurch remain one point from safety in the Southern League Premier Central relegation zone.

Clear-cut chances were at a premium throughout, in blustery conditions, before Ofosu received a second yellow card for throwing the ball away seven minutes from time.

And Stourbridge made the most of the man advantage to score four minutes into injury time as the ball bounced kindly into Jones’ path who took a touch before finishing past Ronnie Hollingshead.

Alvechurch are next in action away at Leamington on Saturday, January 27 with kick-off at 3pm at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
