ALVECHURCH failed to boost their survival hopes after suffering a 3-0 defeat away at league leaders Spalding United.
Goals from Abduramane Sani, Yusifu Ceesay and Bartosz Cybulski condemned Church to defeat at the Sir Halley Stewart Field.
The result means Alvechurch sit 18th in the Southern League Premier Central table, two points clear of the relegation zone.
Church went close just before the half-hour mark when Manny Ilesanmi saw his effort on the slide strike the outside of the post from close range.
However, Spalding broke the deadlock on 34 minutes as Sani controlled Cybulski’s pass and poked the ball past Redman Evans from six-yards out.
The home side then somehow failed to double their lead shortly before the break when Ceesay hit the post from point-blank range with the goal at his mercy.
Spalding scored a second goal five minutes after half time as Ceesay pounced on a short defensive header, beating Evans to the loose ball and finishing into an empty net.
And the home side sealed the points on 55 minutes when Cybulski headed in a cross from the right at the back post from six-yards out.
Alvechurch are next in action against Bromsgrove Sporting on Tuesday, February 17 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Victoria Ground.
