ALVECHURCH have now failed to score in any of their last four matches following a 2-0 home defeat against league leaders Spalding United.
Second-half goals from Jordan Nicholson and substitute Abduramane Sani condemned Church to a fourth straight league defeat at Lye Meadow.
The result means Church sit 10th in the Southern League Premier Central table, four points outside of the play-off places.
Tim Flowers’s side had the better of the chances in the first half as Ethan Sephton saw his low effort from distance saved by Spalding goalkeeper James Dadge.
Church defender Jessy Bavanganga then produced a superb sliding challenge to block Alfie Bendle’s goalbound effort.
At the other end, Frank Tattum latched onto a long ball and raced through on goal only to shoot inches past the post with Dadge at full stretch.
The referee awarded Alvechurch an indirect free-kick later in the first half as a wall of Spalding bodies blocked Tattum’s strike.
However, Spalding broke the deadlock four minutes after half time when Nicholson finished through the legs of Redman Evans at the back post from Jack Roberts ball across the face of goal.
The visitors almost doubled their lead later in the half as Evans showed sharp reflexes to tip Alfie Bendle’s shot around the post.
However, Spalding doubled their lead from the resulting corner on 69 minutes as Sani forced the ball home from close range.
Alvechurch are next in action against Harborough Town on Saturday, November 8 with kick-off at 3pm at the Community Football Ground.
