REDMAN Evans saved two penalties as Alvechurch advanced in the FA Trophy following a shootout victory against Basford United.

Evans made the crucial save in the shootout which confirmed Church’s place in the next round at Greenwich Avenue.

The victory booked Alvechurch’s place in the FA Trophy first round proper.

Neither side could find a breakthrough by the end of the regulation time with the game decided by a shootout.

After both teams converted their first three penalties, Church’s Callum Sullivan saw his effort saved.

However, with Basford one kick from victory, Evans denied Connor Dimaio from the spot.

Both teams missed their sixth spot kick before Jessy Bavanganga put Church ahead.

And Evans made another stop, this time denying David Chapman from the spot, to send Church into the next round.

Alvechurch are next in action against Kettering Town on Saturday, October 11 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
