ALVECHURCH surrendered an early lead in a 2-1 defeat against St Ives Town as the club’s three-game winning run came to an end.
An early goal from Ammar Dyer put Church ahead after just three minutes only for Habib Makanjuola and George Munday to complete the turnaround for the home side at Westwood Road.
The result means Alvechurch sit 13th in the Southern League Premier Central table, seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Tim Flowers’ side made the best possible start as Dyer coolly found the bottom right corner from Dylan Allen-Hadley’s pass with the game just three minutes old.
However, St Ives drew level on 14 minutes when Makanjuola placed a shot into the bottom left corner from Munday’s cutback after the latter beat Ronnie Hollingshead to a loose ball in the box.
And the home side turned the game on its head on 22 minutes when the ball broke to Munday in the box and striker curled an outside of the foot shot into the left corner of the goal.
Alvechurch are next in action against Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday, February 4 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Lye Meadow.
