ALVECHURCH exited the Birmingham Senior Cup after suffering a late 2-1 defeat against National League side Tamworth.
Church led Tamworth courtesy of Manny Ilesanmi’s goal on the stroke of half time at the Lamb Ground.
However, Tamworth equalised through Teo Kurtaran before Ronan Maher scored a late winner for the holders to settle the third round tie
The visitors broke the deadlock moments before the break with Tamworth goalkeeper Jas Singh only able to parry Jonathan Ngandu’s shot into the path of Ilesanmi who applied the finish.
However, the home side equalised on 76 minutes when Kurtaran found the bottom left corner from 25-yards out.
And Maher completed the turnaround on 89 minutes as Maher finished past Jenson Kilroy from 12-yards out to knock Church out of the competition.
Alvechurch are next in action against St Ives Town on Saturday, February 7 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
