REDDITCH United full back Brad Burton has agreed terms to stay with the club next season.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an excellent first campaign at the Valley Stadium, scoring five goals in 44 appearances.

And the former Aston Villa youth player also earned himself a place in the Southern League Premier Central team of the year.

Burton said: “It feels good to have agreed to stay at Redditch for the new season, I feel as though I’m valued as a player and more importantly as a person. I believe it’s a great place to be and the club is heading in the right direction with the ambitions the chairman and the staff have shared with me.

“A change in manager comes with its differences, but I’ve had positive conversations with Tim and he’s expressed to me how he rates me, so it’s always good when you’ve got the belief from the manager.

“He comes with a lot of experience so there will be a lot to learn and take in, also the way that he wants to play suits me as well so that’s always a bonus.”

Reds boss Tim Flowers added: “Brad is another one from last year that we’ve been speaking to over the course of the summer and he’s been on holiday recently, but to be honest with you he was pretty much committed the first time we spoke to him.

“He enjoys the club, like most of the lads do, he enjoys the dressing room and the spirit in there which will be valuable over a long season.

“It’s a no-brainer for me, when I saw him last season he was playing left wingback despite being right footed, so he’s versatile and can fit into both sides of the pitch.

“He’s a good athlete, can get forward and is defensively sound so again, another one we’re pleased has committed and I’m looking forward to working with him in the near future.”
