REDDITCH United secured a play-off place with an impressive 3-0 win against champions Needham Market on the final day of the season.

Goals from Aram Soleman and Reece Flanagan put the Reds in command at the break before Brad Burton completed the scoring late on at the Valley Stadium.

And the result means Redditch will play Leamington in the Southern League Premier Central play-off semi-finals after finishing fourth in the table.

Reds assistant manager Keron Jackson said: “You look back to pre-season, the targets were set, we wanted the play-offs and knowing we’ve achieved that is a fantastic achievement for the football club, it just shows how aligned we all are.

“From recruiting players, taking us through the season to the support we’ve had, it’s a fantastic achievement and we’re absolutely delighted with it.

“It’s always about the group, it’s not about individuals, we’ve been through tough periods, the chairman has given me support and backing, I’ll always be grateful for that.

“Preparation is key, we prepare well for each game, Leamington are a very good team, we have total respect for them, we’re looking forward to it and we’re going to give it our best shot and enjoy the occasion.”

Redditch broke the deadlock after just 10 minutes when Johnny Johnston showed excellent trickery in the box before squaring to Soleman who found the net.

The home side doubled their lead on 34 minutes as Flanagan curled a shot into the bottom left corner from just inside the penalty area.

And the Reds made sure of their place in the play-offs on 81 minutes when Burton drilled a low shot into the bottom right corner from 20-yards out from Flanagan’s pass.

Redditch travel to Leamington in the play-off semi-finals on Wednesday, May 1 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
