DEBUTANT Jez Abbey rescued a point for Alvechurch in midweek as he scored an injury-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Bishop’s Stortford.
Abbey levelled the game six minutes into injury time after Saleem Akanbi put the visitors ahead at Lye Meadow.
And the result means Alvechurch sit 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table, two places and six points above the relegation zone.
The visitors broke the deadlock on 29 minutes when Church failed to deal with a ball over the top and Akanbi lifted a shot over onrushing home goalkeeper Redman Evans.
However, the home side rescued a point six minutes into injury time as substitute Abbey headed in at the death to mark his debut with a goal.
Alvechurch are next in action against Stamford on Saturday, December 20 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
