TOM Emblem scored the only goal as Sporting Club Inkberrow claimed a 1-0 win against Lydney Town.

Emblem’s first-half goal proved the difference between the two teams at Sands Road as Inkberrow stretched their unbeaten run to seven matches.

The result means Sporting sit fourth in the Hellenic League Premier Division table.

Inkberrow controlled the early exchanges against a much-changed Lydney side who are without a win this season.

And Sporting broke the deadlock on 32 minutes when Emblem drove the ball home from the edge of the penalty area after good work from Jake Waterfield and Jay Higgins-Pugsley.

Lydney spurned a glorious chance to equalise on the stroke of half time only for Gabriel Bajrami to produce a stunning reaction save.

Sporting went in search of a second goal after the break as Will Skelton, Higgins-Pugsley and substitute Jude Hill all went close.

However, the home side saw out the remaining minutes to extend their unbeaten start to the season.

Sporting Club Inkberrow are next in action against Highworth Town on Saturday, September 7 with kick-off at 3pm at the Save On Tyres Stadium.
