KERON Jackson insists Redditch United still have ‘a long way to go’ after boosting their play-off chances with a dominant 5-0 win against Leiston.

Reece Flanagan’s penalty put the Reds ahead before Alex Cameron netted a brace with Brad Burton and Danny King also on target at the Valley Stadium.

The result means Redditch sit sixth in the Southern League Premier Central table, outside of the play-off places on goal difference with two matches left to play.

Jackson said: “We were excellent throughout, we dominated the game from the early stages, to score five goals was very pleasing.

“Over the last few weeks we’ve done a lot of work in training, I’ve trusted these boys all season, even through the difficult periods. I’ve always believed in them and I’ve been telling them what good players they are.

“I don’t get too high with the highs or too low from the lows, we’ve still got a long way to go, we’ve not done anything yet, we’ll just keep working away.

“Barwell will be tough, it’s their last home game, if there’s one game they want to win, it will be this weekend to sign off their home season.

“We’re not expecting any of our last two games to be easy, it’s all about us, we just need to carry on doing what we’re doing.”

Redditch broke the deadlock on 26 minutes after Johnny Johnston drew a foul in the box and Flanagan stepped up to fire the resulting penalty into the top left corner of the goal.

The Reds doubled their lead in first-half injury time as Johnston superbly drove into the box and squared the ball to Cameron who applied the finish.

And Cameron struck again four minutes after the break as he turned home Flanagan’s driven cross from the right into the left corner of the goal from four-yards out.

The home side wrapped up the points on 63 minutes as Burton’s controlled finish found the net after the ball broke kindly to the defender in the box.

And the Reds completed the scoring three minutes later when King produced some excellent footwork in the box before rolling the ball into the bottom left corner.

Redditch are next in action away at Barwell on Saturday, April 20 with kick-off at 3pm at Kirkby Road.
