JAMES Fry insists Alvechurch must find a way to start scoring goals after slipping to a 2-0 defeat away at Kettering Town.

Adi Yussuf struck either side of half time at Latimer Park to condemn Church to a fourth defeat in their last five league matches.

And having scored just two goals during that run, boss Fry admits his side need to improve in the final third.

Fry said: “It’s a strange one, we’re nearly there, we’re probably one or two results away, we’ve got to find a way to get over the line, we’re not in a disastrous position, we’ve got to find ways to start scoring goals.

“We’re not as much of a threat on the top line at the moment, we always want to be a threat, we need more quality in the top third.

“The second goals kills us off, he’s got no right to score from where he takes the shot from, it ended up coming off the top of his foot and loops over the goalkeeper.

“We don’t get those goals because we turn down the shot, it’s not perfect, it’s not right to shoot.

“At some point the penny has got to drop on the top line and goals are scored in strange ways, we’ve got to find a way to get something going on that side.”

Kettering broke the deadlock on 17 minutes when Adi Yussuf headed home Bruno Andrade’s cross from the left at the back post.

And Town sealed the points late on as Yussuf’s shot from 20-yards out looped over Church goalkeeper Ronnie Hollingshead and into the net via the aid of the crossbar.

The result means Church sit 14th in the Southern League Premier Central table, 11 points above the relegation zone.

Alvechurch are next in action at home to Mickleover on Saturday, March 30 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
