FOOTBALL - Inkberrow Eagles Girls under-14s complete league and cup double

INKBERROW Eagles under-14 girls completed a league and cup double with two victories against local rivals Droitwich in a double header.

The Eagles lifted the Mercian League title after beating Droitwich 4-0 and 5-1 in back-to-back games to complete a double after winning the Worcestershire County Cup last month.

A brace from Erin Harvard, a goal from top scorer Millie Sanders and an Evie Silcock strike sealed the points and the title in the first game with the Eagles only needing a point to become champions.

And a commanding defensive performance from Sophie Owens, Lily Thwaites, Verity Bond Evans, Savanna Van Zyl, Rosie Moon and Chloe Parker ensured the Eagles recorded a clean sheet.

Inkberrow then won the second game 5-1 as Daisy Fitton scored a hat-trick while Liv Poole and Izzy Price also found the net with midfielders Olivia Rae, Amelia Rosser and Hana Fazliu in the thick of the action.

Last month the Eagles won the Worcestershire County Cup on penalties against a resolute West Worcester side.

Goals from Price and Havard put Berrow 2-0 up only for two late goals from Worcester to take the game to penalties.

However, Inkberrow goalkeeper Megan Stokes was the hero in the shootout with two penalty saves before captain and player of the game Moon lifted the trophy.

Many of Inkberrow’s players joined the club through its FA accredited Wildcats centre with a dedicated pathway through to the adult team.
