KYLE Storer hopes Alvechurch will ‘gain confidence’ after pushing 10-man Yeovil Town all the way in the FA Trophy fourth round.
Church eventually suffered a penalty shootout defeat against the National League side at Huish Park following a goalless draw in regulation time.
Alvechurch competed well against the Glovers who play two divisions higher than them although Yeovil played for more than an hour with 10-men.
And Storer felt proud of his side but admits Church did not take advantage of the home side’s early red card.
Storer said: “I’m really proud. After the first 20 minutes we executed the gameplan very well.
“We hung in there and just lacked that little bit of quality in the final third which has been a pattern of our season so far.
“But I’m very proud we took a very good National League side all the way.
“Penalties are a lottery. It’s our fifth penalty shootout of the season, you’re going to lose one.
“We’ve got to gain confidence from this but I feel we should have done better when they went down to 10-men.
“This was a great experience for the players to see what the level is like.
“We seem to play better against the better teams but we need to focus on the league.”
Alvechurch are next in action against Kettering Town on Saturday, January 17 with kick-off at 3pm at Latimer Park.
