MIKE Fowler insists Redditch United must ‘keep pushing’ despite losing ground on their promotion rivals following defeat at league leaders Harborough Town in midweek.
The Reds lost against unbeaten table toppers Harborough for the second time this season as goals from Liam Dolman and Rob Morgan settled the game at the Community Football Ground.
And the result means Redditch sit fourth in the Southern League Premier Central table, nine points behind Harborough who also have a game in-hand on the Reds.
United host second-placed Spalding United this weekend and Fowler expressed his desire to avoid defeat against another potential promotion rival.
Fowler said: “We did alright. We started on the front foot and had a lot of control in first quarter-hour in their half.
“We were very good in the first two thirds from the back four into midfield. The front three were not as effective as they usually are.
“We were good enough to get something out of the game. The two goals were really frustrating that we conceded.
“They’re very good. You can see why they’re top. We just fell short in certain areas, especially towards the end of the game.
“We’ve lost ground and we want to keep pushing. The gap opens up a little bit. We don’t want that to be compounded this weekend
“Spalding score a lot of goals and it’s something we have to be mindful of. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways.”
Redditch host Spalding on Saturday, November 29 with kick-off at 3pm at the Valley Stadium.
