MIKE Fowler praised a ‘complete performance’ from his side after Redditch United secured a record derby win against Bromsgrove Sporting.
The Reds recorded their biggest-ever derby win against Sporting after cruising to a 3-0 victory at the Valley Stadium.
That came after Redditch suffered a 2-0 defeat away at Leiston at Victory Road
The results mean the Reds sit 10th in the Southern League Premier Central table.
And Fowler praised the attitude of his players after United secured a seventh successive derby win against Bromsgrove.
Fowler said: “Credit to the lads, I could see it in their eyes. I didn’t need to say anything in the dressing room.
“You could see they were all focused and ready to go. They didn’t perform because our lads were snapping into tackles.
“The boys deserved everything they got. We could have scored more, they didn’t really land a glove on us.
“That’s probably the most complete performance I’ve seen from the lads this season.
“We kept doing the brilliant basics all game. We kept doing the right things and we didn’t take our foot off the gas.
“That one was for the fans.”
Redditch broke the deadlock on 29 minutes when Liam Loughlan flicked the ball into the path of Reece Flanagan who forced the ball home from close range following a scramble in the box.
And United doubled their lead four minutes into injury time at the end of the first half when Flanagan’s initial effort deflected into the path of Matty Warburton who coolly found the net via the aid of the post.
Redditch extended their lead just four minutes after half time as Danny King finished on the rebound after Adam Harrison kept out Alex Cameron’s initial effort.
And Sporting had striker Luke Benbow sent off on 76 minutes when he picked up a second yellow card after he caught Aaron Roberts in the face with his boot when competing for a loose ball.
Redditch are next in action against Skegness Town in the FA Cup on Saturday, August 30 with kick-off at 3pm at the Valley Stadium.
