FOOTBALL - Nine-man Studley fight back twice to draw with Worcester Raiders

STUDLEY FC came from behind twice to draw 2-2 in their top of the table clash with Worcester Raiders despite finishing the game with nine players.

Danny Carter’s 88th minute free-kick earned a well-deserved point for the home side after Dale Edwards had originally brought Studley level.

However, Carter was shown a straight card in the final minute after Jack Cresswell had been dismissed for two yellow cards 10 minutes earlier.

The result means Studley sit second in the Hellenic League Division One table, one point behind leaders Clanfield 85 with four games in-hand.

Worcester took the lead on 20 minutes when Isaac Cooper dispatched a penalty into the bottom corner before Studley equalised on the half hour mark when Edwards slotted home.

However, the Raiders reclaimed the lead on 38 minutes when Kai Mahon found the bottom corner from 20-yards out after cutting inside his man.

And things became worse for Studley on 80 minutes when Cresswell received his second booking following an innocuous looking tackle.

Despite being a man down, Studley drew level on 88 minutes when Carter scored a sublime free-kick from 20-yards out before then being sent off when challenging for a loose ball.

Studley are next in action against Malmesbury Victoria on Saturday, February 19 with kick-off at 3pm at the Beehive.
