REDDITCH Borough will play at Step Six for the first time in their history next season after storming to the Midland Football League Division Two title.

Borough finished 12 points clear of closest challengers AFC Coventry Rangers and ended the season in remarkable form after winning 11 of their final 13 matches which took place in the space of just 28 days.

And club secretary Julian Workman heaped praise on Borough’s players and staff after achieving a historic promotion to Step Six.

Workman sad: “The results and performances this season are a reward for many years of doing the right things and operating best practices.

“Working hard as a group, attracting the right people and the dedication given by everyone involved with the day-to-day operations of the club.

“As club secretary it gives me an immense sense of pride to see so many people come together and be part of this special football club.

“Togetherness and inclusivity are the foundations on which the club has been built on.

“From inside the dressing room, to the boardroom and onto the terraces together, we have kicked every ball and celebrated every goal.

“Our togetherness has been the special ingredient that sets us apart as a club, on and off the pitch. I can only see the club continuing to grow and get stronger.

“We welcomed John Edwards and Tyrone Henderson as first team men’s managers at the beginning of the season with their backroom staff of Simon Fitter, Greg Joist and Liam Maher who are all passionate about playing their part and to help continue the growth both on and off the pitch.

“They have written the next chapter for the club and their names in our history books. For the first time Redditch Borough Football Club we will be playing at Step Six next season.

“This has been an outstanding effort by everyone involved with the team. Everyone connected with the club are proud of you all.”

Borough suffered just one defeat all season and scored more goals (82) and conceded less goals (19) than any other team in MFL Division Two.

Redditch spent four seasons in MFL Division Two before securing promotion and plan to install floodlights at their Cherry Tree Walk home at the start of next month.
