NEWLY-PROMOTED Redditch Borough Women started the new season with a 3-1 victory away at Coundon Court Ladies.
Borough came from behind to take the points as Millie Connolly-Heath, Molly Maguire and Alisha Sheridan all found the net for Borough at Hawkes Mill Sports Club.
The result means Redditch sit third in the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division table, behind the top two teams on goal difference.
Borough made a number of changes to the playing squad and management team following promotion last season with Aid Clements appointed the club’s new manager.
However, a new-look Redditch side fell behind early on as Lacey McMillan found the net following a corner to put the home side in front.
Borough equalised later in the first half when Connolly-Heath ran onto Sam Brown’s through ball and wrong-footed the defender before firing home from six-yards out.
Redditch completed the turnaround before the break as Maguire headed in Esther Lau-Mackaay’s corner after Coundon goalkeeper Megan Donohoe fumbled the ball behind for a set-piece.
And Borough stretched their lead seven minutes into the second period as Sheridan rounded Donohoe after the Coundon keeper could only parry Bobbi-Lea Birch’s initial effort.
Redditch are next in action against Leek Town on Sunday, September 14 with kick-off at 3pm at the F. Ball Community Stadium.
