REDDITCH United chairman David Faulkner has condemned a section of the club’s supporters who directed ‘misogynistic comments’ towards an opposition staff member.
The incident occurred during Redditch’s 3-1 defeat against Worcester City at Sixways Stadium on Easter Monday.
The club said in a statement the comments are “completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
Redditch have a “zero-tolerance approach to abuse or discrimination and any incidents are dealt with seriously by the club.”
West Mercia Police are currently investigating the incident.
Once the investigation is completed, those found responsible for the ‘misogynistic comments’ will face banning orders.
Redditch also apologised to the Worcester City staff member for the comments directed towards her during the game.
Faulkner said: “Redditch United is proud to be a welcoming and inclusive club.
“We take our responsibilities to our players, staff, and supporters extremely seriously, and any behaviour that falls below the standards we expect has no place at our football club.”
