KIEREN DONNELLY scored an 88th minute winner to hand Redditch United a 1-0 win against St Ives Town and extend the Reds unbeaten run to nine matches.
Donnelly ended St Ives’ resistance with just two minutes left to play to all but ensure the Reds safety at the Trico Stadium.
The result means Redditch sit ninth in the Southern League Premier Central table, 13 points clear of the relegation zone.
And the Reds opted to line up in their blue and yellow away kit, despite playing at home, to show their solidarity with Ukraine.
Chances were at a premium in the first half with Dan Sweeney closest to breaking the deadlock when he flicked an effort wide from Donnelly’s right-wing cross.
Redditch had their backs against the wall at the start of the second period after conceding an indirect free-kick for a back pass with the resulting set-piece well blocked by the Reds defence
The home side were limited to shots from distance with Ryan Edmunds and Jack Byrne both missing the target before Sweeney sliced an effort wide from inside the penalty area.
However, Redditch snatched the points late on when Donnelly played a one-two with Aram Soleman before the latter drove into the box and crossed for the former who found the bottom right corner with a cool finish.
Redditch are next in action away at Royston Town on Saturday, March 19 with kick-off at 3pm at Garden Walk Stadium.
