KERON Jackson insists Redditch United’s vital 1-0 win away at play-off rivals Stratford Town was ‘one for the fans’ as the Reds ended their six-game losing run.
The game’s decisive moment came on 67 minutes at the Arden Garages Stadium as Alex Cameron ended Redditch’s 10-hour goal drought.
And Reds assistant manager Jackson stressed it was a mist-win game for the club with Redditch now outside of the Southern League Premier Central play-off places on goal difference.
Jackson said: “I’m really pleased for the group, it’s been a tough few weeks, coming away and winning one-nil is just how we wanted it. It was a game we had to win.
“Sometimes in football you have moments where, if you keep believing, the group will deliver, that will help us going forward in the last three games.
“It was big for the group to win, big for the fans but being a local derby, that’s one for the fans, we’ve beat the form team and kept a clean sheet, I’m really pleased for the supporters.
“It’ll be another tough game, Leiston are in a false position, they’ll come to win the game, we’ve just got to prepare well and focus.
“I’d ask the supporters again, please come out and support us, stay with us because they are our 12th man like they have been all season.”
The Reds went close on a number of occasions in the first half as captain Reece Flanagan saw his stunning half volley from 40-yards out bounce onto the crossbar.
However, the visitors eventually broke the deadlock on 67 minutes when Cameron finished into an empty net after Callum Smith failed to deal with a high ball in the box.
Redditch are next in action at home to Leiston on Saturday, April 13 with kick-off at 3pm at the Valley Stadium.
