REDDITCH UNITED goalkeeper Molly Ripley has earned a call-up to England Women’s Deaf Squad as they prepare for the World Deaf Football Championships in 2023.

Ripley initially joined the Reds on a dual registration with Abingdon United at the start of January 2022 before signing permanently earlier this month.

The goalkeeper was expected to represent Great Britain at the Deaflympics in Brazil later this year only for the Board of UK Deaf Sport to decide not to travel and participate due to health and safety reasons alongside the ongoing pandemic.

Instead, Ripley and the England Deaf Camp will look ahead to the World Deaf Football Championships that are being held in May 2023 in Mokpo-si, South Korea.

The competition will begin on Sunday, May 14 and concludes on Monday, May 29.

Redditch United Women’s first-team manager, Piers Webster said: “Absolutely delighted for Molly to get yet another call up to the England deaf team.

“The application, attitude, and humbleness that she shows week in week out shows she deserves every opportunity she gets.”

The club have congratulated Ripley on this massive achievement and are very proud to call her a Red.
