REDDITCH UNITED have announced an exciting new agreement with local Sky Bet Championship club Birmingham City.

United will benefit from the support of Birmingham City, whose highest grade Category 1 Academy is based at their Wast Hills training ground.

And Birmingham will provide CPD sessions for Redditch United’s grassroots coaches as well as the potential opportunity for our players to be invited to Birmingham City for fixtures and trials.

The agreement will provide a link between the two clubs providing Birmingham City with a Talent ID Centre for their pre-academy sessions at Redditch United’s Trico Stadium.

Redditch’s players, staff and supporters will also have access to unique ticketing opportunities through Birmingham’s ticketing incentive scheme.

Reds Chairman David Faulkner said: “This will have a huge benefit to further promote the quality of our grassroots junior offer and thus provide a network of support for our players and coaches.

“We are committed to providing opportunities for everyone and this link will enable us to offer those with aspirations of playing in the elite game make that transition.

“Over the past year we have built a strong relationship with the clubs commercial department and it’s exciting for us to be able to grow our link with the club further.”

Interim Academy Manager Josh Wright added: “Our offer to the community has more than doubled in the past couple of years with us now catering for all ages and abilities within the Academy.

“This agreement will help further promote the club and support us delivering a high quality offer to ensure we continue on our path to be the best option for players outside of the Professional Academy system.

“Our foundation sessions are a perfect first step into the game and from this will provide opportunities to our junior teams.

“The agreement will enable us to enhance that offer and provide opportunities for those higher ability players to seamlessly progress into one of the countries leading Academy systems.

“The next Jude Bellingham could start their journey at Redditch United, how exciting is that!”

Birmingham’s Recruitment Officer Simon Hill said: “We are delighted to welcome Redditch United to our Academy Club partner AGA scheme.

“This will hopefully benefit both clubs in many ways. It will help the coaching staff of Redditch United gain valuable insights into the coaching programme here at the Academy, which will help them develop as coaches with their own teams.

“We are also committed to putting on CPD events that will also help them develop as coaches. Birmingham City Academy is committed to giving opportunities to local players and helping their football development.

“We hope this agreement will contribute to the development and growth of Redditch United across all of its age groups.”
